Self-doubt and lack of self-esteem is a real dream killer and high performance nullifier.

One day you can feel like you’re on top of the world and your productivity levels are at an all-time high.

But then, that evening our good friend “imposter syndrome” pays you a visit.

He infects your mind with negative thoughts and feelings…

Who are you to be making big things happen in your life…?

You don’t have the experience to start a business…

What happens if things go wrong…?

You look stupid on camera, everyone’s going to be laughing at your video…

These success sabotaging thought gremlins hit you hard and the next morning, you’re a shell of your former world-conquering self.

Do high-performance people still experience these pangs of self-doubt?


But do they have a method of neutralising them and making them wish they’d never reared their ugly heads?


They’re called “Affirmations”.

I used to think that this sort of stuff was woo-woo “fluff” and successful people didn’t really do it.

It was just something people would write about so they could sell books and become some sort of “expert.”

But let me tell you, they work.

If used correctly, well-crafted affirmations not only provide you with a powerful start and end to each day, they’re also an effective strategy of programming your mind like a laser-guided missile to seek out the things you want in your life.

Everybody’s affirmations are different depending on what’s important to each of us.

I have a strict routine that I follow every morning and evening that keeps the self-belief and self-esteem at maximum levels and keeps operating outside of my comfort zone.

So, what is an affirmation?

An affirmation is a form of positive self-talk and subconscious programming (A key attribute of high performance people by the way).

It’s a statement that you say to yourself to re-affirm the things that you want to achieve, the people you want to meet, the life that you want to live and the person you want to become.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that the affirmation will magically appear out of thin air, but it DOES put you in the frame of mind to start figuring out how to make it happen.

Stick with me, it’ll make much more sense in a moment.

There are thousands of videos, article and books about how to craft an effective affirmation.

Here’s what I’ve learned from my own experience.

So, we start off with a goal – you want to become a millionaire.

Let’s take a look at how we’d turn that into an affirmation.

First off, you have to attach some sort of emotion to your affirmation.

When you start to practice how it would “feel” to achieve your goals, it really sinks into your subconscious mind on a much deeper level and you’ll be far more “tuned in” to the opportunities around you that can take you closer towards attaining it.

How will you feel when you become a millionaire?





Let’s go with “excited”.

In fact, let’s step it up a notch to really get into the feels and go with “super-excited”.

There’s part one;

“It feels super-exciting…..”

Now really imagine how it feels within to feel “super-excited”.

Think back to a time when you were in that state and notice how your body language changed, how your mood changed, how your thoughts shifted.

Remember that feeling.

The next part of the process is to talk about your goal as if you’ve already made it happen.

Your mind cannot process the past, or the future – it can only think in the “now.”

Talking to yourself as if you’ve already achieved your goals is not only a great feeling and extremely motivating, it also prompts you to start ACTING in the right way.

You’ll find yourself asking questions such as,

“How would I dress if I was a millionaire?”

“Where would I hang out?”

“Who would be in my circle of influence?”

“What would I have to know?”

“What projects would I work on?”

“How would I act?”

“What would my beliefs be?”

And when you start acting upon the answers to these questions, great things happen.

Remember, you must BE before you BECOME.

Let me repeat that because whilst short, it’s a massively profound quote;

You must BE before you BECOME.

Affirmations are a great way of helping you to have the self-awareness to make the necessary changes required to be the person that can achieve these goals that you so badly want.

So, let’s add that to the mix to complete our first affirmation;

“It feels super-exciting to know that I have a million pounds sitting in my personal bank account”

Now repeat this affirmation, along with the affirmations you have set for ALL your other goals, first thing every day and last thing before lights out.

No matter what mood you wake up in, your affirmations will immediately get your fired up and ready to tackle head-on whatever is thrown at you that day.

They’ll also block out the doubt and negative whispers that can knock so many of us off course.

Ultimately, we all become victims or our own self-talk – negative or positive.

You have a choice.

Make the right one.
